Dear Clifton Community,

We welcome you and your teams to our annual Winter Sports Derby. We appreciate your decision to travel and compete with us, and we eagerly anticipate hosting your school and look forward to some competitive fixtures played in good spirits. 

Our community eagerly awaits the Winter Sports Derby event each year, and our upcoming edition promises another exciting occasion.

The St Alban’s Community takes immense pride in extending a warm welcome, and we hope you enjoy our hospitality. 

If there is anything we can do to make your stay more comfortable and enjoyable, please do not hesitate to let us know. Our staff is here to assist you with any requirements or requests you may have.

We hope your visit will be filled with exciting competition, camaraderie, and memorable experiences.

FORMAT OF THE DAY – STAFF AND COACHES

Friday 12 May

13h30  Boys arrive and meet at the pavilion. (Buses will park on Wormser Field). Our security will direct you on arrival.

13h45   Boys take their luggage to the Anton Murray Pavilion. Boys playing hockey at 14h30 are to use the changing rooms in the Tom Hamilton Wellness Centre.

14h40  Boys are to gather on Moshate Field (main rugby field) and will be allocated to their hosts or shown the boarding house they will be staying in.  

1st teams (rugby & hockey) will be staying in Knoll House.

14h45  Refreshments will be served for staff at @thegreyandblue.

16h00 Boys staying in the boarding houses will be allocated their rooms. 

18h00 Dinner for staff will be served at @thegreyandblue (Clubhouse next to the Astro) and the Hamilton Hall for boys staying in the boarding houses.

 

Saturday 13 May 

06h30 – 07h30 Breakfast will be served for all boys staying in the boarding houses. 

07h00 Tea, coffee and breakfast snacks for staff @thegreyandblue and at Anton Murray Pavilion.

11h30 Snack and refreshments for staff at the Jurie du Toit hut. This is situated on the far side of Moshate Field (Main Rugby Field)

15h30 Lunch and refreshments for all staff at the Anton Murray Pavilion.  

Sunday 14 May 

06h45 Boys staying over with hosts are to be dropped off at St Alban’s College.

07h00 Snack packs to be collected from Jurie du Toit Hut. 

07h15 Buses depart. 

CODE OF CONDUCT

PARENTS AND SUPPORTERS
GENERAL POLICY

The playing of school sports is primarily of an educational nature.

AIM OF SCHOOL SPORT

To encourage participation and engender the highest standards of sportsmanship, self-discipline and control in players.

Parents and supporters should consider themselves representative of the school when supporting fixtures involving their son’s team. Therefore, they are encouraged to support their son and various other teams.

CONDUCT AT MATCHES

Positive support will be appreciated.

Parents and supporters are requested to refrain from directing negative comments at referees, umpires, any other officials, players or opposition supporters.

No form of discrimination based on race, gender, religion or culture will be tolerated.

Parents and supporters are asked to position themselves well on the sidelines and refrain from standing or sitting behind the back or goal line.

Parents and supporters are requested not to walk up and down the lines of the field while a game is in progress.

Parents are instructed to stay out of the technical areas. (Area where players and officials are seated)

Alcohol may only be consumed on the upper tier of the Anton Murray Pavilion. The bar will open at 11am. 

TEAM SELECTION

Parents are not to interfere with the coach’s team selection at any time.

CHANNELS OF COMMUNICATION

Parents and spectators should take up matters with the Director of Sports. Please do not approach individual officials, umpires and coaches.

We respectfully request that every family member concerned and spectators ensure that this Code of Conduct is adhered to make every sports fixture enjoyable to all.
