WINTER FIXTURE – ST DAVID’S MARIST INANDA
29-30 JULY 2022

KRINESAN MOODLEY
HEADMASTER’S WELCOME
Dear Parents, Staff and Boys
It is always a pleasure to welcome the Headmaster, Mr Mike Thiel, Staff, Parents and Boys of St David’s to the St Alban’s College campus. This fixture and interaction between our two schools has been a longstanding affair and the rivalry and camaraderie displayed when our two schools compete against each other, has always been collegial. We are looking forward to interacting again today particularly given that St Alban’s is celebrating its Diamond Jubilee, and I would like to invite all our visitors to make themselves at home in the peaceful environment of our campus. Please take advantage of our hospitality, relax and enjoy yourselves and do not hesitate to ask our staff or boys should you have any queries or require any assistance. The Anton Murray Pavilion and the @thegreyandblue, above the astroturf, are there to be used at your convenience and drinks and snacks will be available for staff after every game.
St Alban’s College continues to grow in stature and although we are not as old as St David’s, we are particularly proud of our sporting tradition dating back to 1963. Sport is a wonderful way for boys to learn and grow and although there will be specific rivalries today, I sincerely hope that everyone involved will not only enjoy the interaction but learn from their experiences.
My sincere thanks also go to all the staff who accompany and coach these young men, for giving them this wonderful opportunity and for supporting them. I would like to thank Garth Turvey, our Director of Sport, and his team for putting together the programme and ensuring that everyone is kept safe and has a rewarding experience. It would also be remiss of me not to congratulate and thank Johnny Nkuna and our ground staff for ensuring that our facilities are well-prepared.
Lastly, to all the players, enjoy the competition but ensure that rivalry and competition do not become your masters. Play hard but fair, and most of all develop friendships and ensure that you live, learn and enjoy your experiences on the field.
Yours sincerely
SHANE KIDWELL
Headmaster
