ALLAN KANNEMEYER: THE RIGHT REVEREND ALLAN KANNEMEYER

QUALIFICATIONS: DIPLOMA IN THEOLOGY (ST PAUL’S COLLEGE, GRAHAMSTOWN), CERTIFICATE IN MANAGEMENT AND LEADERSHIP PRINCIPLES (UNISA) AND CERTIFICATE IN URBAN LEADERSHIP (UP)
NATIONALITY: SOUTH AFRICAN

Bishop Allan was sent to St Paul’s Theological College in 1982 for training in preparation for full time ordained ministry in the Anglican Church of Southern Africa. He completed his training at the end of 1985 and ministered in George and Mossel Bay in the Western Cape, after which he moved to Pretoria in 2001. His has held positions of leadership in the Diocese of George, the Diocese of Pretoria, as well as in the office of Archbishop Thabo Makgoba, where he worked as the Archbishop’s Executive Officer. Bishop Allan is gifted with leadership qualities, a pastoral heart, diplomacy, bridge building, i.e. reconciling people, and wisdom. He is humble, straightforward, and does not tolerate arrogance. Bishop Allan was elected to serve as Bishop in February 2016 and was consecrated as the 11th Bishop of Pretoria on 14 May 2016.

GRANT NUPEN: EDUCATION CONSULTANT

Grant was appointed a Trustee of the St Alban’s College Foundation in 2013 as the nominated Fund-raising Ambassador. A teacher by profession, he was previously Headmaster of The Ridge School, his Alma Mater, St Alban’s College and then Principal of the Diocesan College, Bishops, in Cape Town until his retirement in 2012. He is currently Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the LEAP Science and Maths Schools.

MIKE BEAUMONT: CONSULTANT IN ORGANISATIONAL CHANGE, INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS, HUMAN RESOURCES STRATEGIES AND SYSTEMS

Mike is a product of the Class of 1968, an active Old Boy, parent of Murray (Class of 2006) and has served on the governing bodies of the College in various capacities over a period of three decades, including immediate past Chairmen of TRUSTEE. Mike has a deep sense of the ethos of the College and how the clear articulation of roles and responsibilities of the School’s Executive Committee, under the Headmaster, and The TRUSTEE can improve the standards of governance, performance and financial sustainability of the College. Mike is a qualified attorney, knowledgeable in the fields of labour/employment law, author, lecturer and change management consultant.

MONWABISI GANTSHO: CEO AND REGISTRAR

NATIONALITY: SOUTH AFRICAN

Monwabisi is a Fellow of the Centres for Leadership and Public Values of Southern Africa and the USA. Monwabisi is the former Head of Private Practice and Economics of the Eastern Cape African Chamber of Commerce. He began his career as a medical doctor in 1987 at Livingston Hospital, Port Elizabeth. He joined the National Medical and Dental Association, becoming its Secretary-General in the Eastern Cape. Gantsho was an international scholar-in-residence at Hampden-Sydney College in the USA in the field of Health Economics and Health Insurance. He is an associate member of the World Medical Association and has presented papers on health related topics at various national and international conferences.

FRANK GREGORY: GEOLOGIST

QUALIFICATIONS: BSC (GEOLOGY), BSC (HONOURS)
NATIONALITY: SOUTH AFRICAN

Frank is a founding student of St Alban’s College, having been in the Class of 1966. He studied at the University of the Witwatersrand and has practised as a professional geologist since his graduation. He initially worked as a junior geologist in Namibia for a Canadian exploration company before joining Johannesburg Consolidated Investments (JCI) as a mine geologist in 1975. He was with the JCI Group for 23 years, eventually operating at executive management level and on the board of multiple subsidiary companies in five jurisdictions. In 1998, he left JCI and became a co-founder of The Mineral Corporation, an international mining advisory firm based in Bryanston, Johannesburg, where he acted as Managing Director for 10 years. After 45 years in the mining industry, Frank retired from The Mineral Corporation in 2019. During his career, he was a Fellow of the Geological Society of South Africa, the Southern African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy and the Society of Economic Geologists as well as serving as President of the Geological Society of South Africa in 1996/1997.

GABA TABANE: DIRECTOR

Gaba studied for a Bachelor of Commerce, Honours degree at the North West University (1991 to 1995) and obtained an MBA from Clark Atlanta University in the USA in 1999. He has worked in academia as a Lecturer, Government as a Youth Commissioner responsible for Economic Development as well as CEO of the North West Provincial Government’s Investment Promotion Agency, Invest North West, for 6 years. Having cut his teeth in the Consulting industry at Accenture for 3 years, he proceeded to be the Managing Director (MD) of the Black Management Forum and subsequently a Director at Deloitte for the last eight years. Gaba serves as the Bishop’s appointee to the Foundation of St Alban’s College. He is a Lay Minister at St Stephens Anglican in Lyttleton.

DAVE DONALD: CHARTERED ACCOUNTANT
APPOINTED TO TRUSTEE: 2017
QUALIFICATIONS: B COM (WITS) CA (SA) HDIP TAX LAW
NATIONALITY: SOUTH AFRICAN

Dave was appointed to the foundation in 2017 to assist with the finances and accounting for the Foundation. Dave also represents the Foundation on the Investment Committee of the Diocese. Dave was a partner at PWC for 14 years and then joined Investec Property as FD. Dave retired in 2016.

TYRONE CARROLL
APPOINTED TO TRUSTEE: 2020
NATIONALITY: SOUTH AFRICAN

Tyrone matriculated from St. Albans College in 1989, he then joined the South African Navy. He started his professional Telecoms career at Telkom in 1996, before moving to Internet Solutions in 2000 to help implement one of Africa’s first MPLS networks. Tyrone was the lead design and build engineer on the VPN network which eventually spanned Africa and into Europe and Asia, working in London, the USA and Switzerland whilst still presenting at top national conferences on MPLS deployment, traffic engineering and QoS. Tyrone moved to Cisco Systems in 2006 as a senior systems engineer, where he worked on the design of many ISP and mobile networks in Southern Africa , including leading the project to build Telkom’s Next Generation IP network. He moved from Cisco to Juniper in 2009, again as a senior systems engineer, working on MTN’s Juniper-only data centre in Cameroon, and the worldwide project to connect all 23 of MTN’s international operations together Tyrone joined the THREE6FIVE team in 2010. Tyrone is a qualified CCIE.

Thusang was appointed a Trustee of the St Alban’s College Foundation in 2020. An insurance practitioner with over 20 years insurance industry experience. He is a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO) since 2017, a global network of young chief executives across 130 countries. He is a Board Member of the South African Insurance Association (SAIA) and serves on the board of the Organization of Eastern & Southern African Insurers (OESAI). He matriculated at St Alban’s College in 1994.
