SPORTS RESULTS: 22-26 FEB

Basketball

The first team went to the prestigious St John’s basketball tournament. 

The results for the group stages were as follows:

Won 44 – 15 vs Falcon College (Zim)  

Won 49 – 35 vs Jeppe  

Won 50 – 30 vs Michael Mount   

Lost 24 – 33 vs Sacred Heart College  


This placed the team first in their group going into the playoff, where they lost 26 – 35 to St David’s Marists Inanda.  

After being knocked out of the playoffs, we participated in placement games, and the results were as follows playoffs.

Won 27 – 20 vs St John’s College.  

Lost 24 – 27 vs KES 

The team placed 6th overall in the tournament. 

 

Cricket

1st XI Standard Bank Independent Schools Cricket Festival

Day 1 

vs St John’s College – Zimbabwe

St Alban’s College, 174 all out.

St John’s College – Zimbabwe 175 for 7, Eldré Spies 8 overs for 24 runs and two wickets.

St Alban’s College lost by three wickets.

 

Day 2 

vs Uplands College

Uplands College 274 for nine after 50 overs. Liam Basch 8 overs, 40 runs, and 3 wickets

St Alban’s College, 276 for 4, Aidan van der Westhuizen 58, and Euan Frankim 106 runs not out.

St Alban’s College won by 6 wickets.

 

Day 3 

vs Kearsney 

Kearsney 319 for 8 after 50 overs.  Liam Basch 9 overs 67 runs and 4 wickets.

St Alban’s College, 210 all out. Aidan van der Westhuizen 86.

St Alban’s College lost by 109 runs.


Day 4
 

vs Bishops

Bishops, 166 for 6 after 20 overs.

St Alban’s College,118 for 9 after 20 overs.

St Alban’s College lost by 48 runs.

St Alban’s College won by 63 runs.

vs Helpmekaar 

St Alban’s College 224 all out, James Godwin 61 runs.

St Alban’s College won by 72 runs.

St Andrew’s School, 229 for 8 after 50 overs.

Kingswood 72 for 8 after 20 overs.

Water Polo

The Water Polo 1st Team toured East London to participate in the Vides 1st Team Tournament at Selborne College from 24-26 February. The team played very well, narrowly missing out on a Quarter Final spot, losing 14-12 to Kearsney College. The results were as follows:

vs Stirling 12-1 Win

vs Kearsney 14-12 Loss

vs Glenwood House 5-4 Win

vs Grey PE 10-7 Loss

Final placement 10th out of 16 schools. 


Golf
The first Golf Team participated in the Pirie Cup held at Pecanwood Estate. The boys were placed 2nd overall.
