Dear St Mary’s DSG, WHPS, and St Alban’s College Communities and Friends
“Where Words Fail, Music Speaks”- Hans Christian Anderson
It is with great excitement that we present the first-ever virtual “Friends In Concert” 2021. Over the past year-and-a-half, we have all been individually and collectively affected by the COVID-19 Pandemic. This, too, has had a huge impact on our Music Programmes, and many of us have struggled with not being able to stage our musicians live, due to the pandemic and a number of restrictions and protocols.
It is for this reason that the Music Departments of these three great schools took on the challenge and decided to go ahead with this wonderful initiative of bringing the music to you. I would like to express my heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all the Directors of Music, Music Staff and Students who have put in so much time and effort to make these audio-visual recordings a reality. It has taken months of preparation and hard work and they can feel justifiably proud of the end product. A special thank you, too, to the Heads of St Mary’s DSG, WHPS and St Alban’s College for their unfailing support in this endeavour. It is very much appreciated.
Please enjoy listening to all the music items presented and seeing our young musicians shine on stage as they should. This virtual concert is a real celebration of the incredible musical talent we have at our three schools and it is a joy and privilege for us to share this special event with you.
Please stay safe and well as we continue to navigate our way through these difficult times and we look forward to seeing you all in person at one of our live musical events in the not too distant future.
Yours in music,
Mark Stenhouse – Director of the Arts
