During Heritage Week, we explored the profound significance of language in shaping our heritage and the very fabric of our lives. Mama Ray ignited a passion in the boys, showing them that learning languages is not just an academic exercise but a vital way to connect with the world around us. 🌱
We were deeply honoured to welcome Raynolda Makhutle, a woman who exemplifies the true power of language. As a CANCERVIVE ambassador and a cervical cancer survivor, Raynolda speaks 11 of South Africa’s 12 official languages—not merely as a tool for communication but as a powerful bridge to connect, educate, and heal. 💬💛
Her rich and diverse journey—spanning roles as a teacher and banker—has culminated in her current work as a patient navigator and counsellor. Raynolda’s story is one of unwavering resilience, using her voice and linguistic skills to shatter the silence and stigma surrounding cancer, particularly in communities that are often overlooked.
✨ “Language is more than just words—it’s the thread that binds us to one another, to our past, and to our future.” ✨
