LEGACY OF EXCELLENCE!

A Legacy of Excellence: The Gerald Dros Cricket Scholarship
On 27 September, St Alban’s College had the honour of launching The Gerald Dros Scholarship in recognition of South African cricketer and Old Albanian Gerald Dros (Class of 1991). Gerald represented Ireland from 1999 to 2004 and South Africa A from 2000 to 2002, leaving a legacy of passion, discipline, and leadership that continues to inspire.
We are proud to announce the first recipient of this scholarship, Jesse Eckard (Form 3).
Born on 15 October 2009 in Pretoria, Jesse is a talented young all-rounder whose love for the game and commitment to excellence have already set him apart. At just 15 years old, he has made history as the inaugural Gerald Dros Cricket Scholar, setting the standard for those who will follow.
Beyond his skill on the field, Jesse embodies the true spirit of St Alban’s: resilience, humility, and a drive to learn and grow.
This scholarship represents more than an opportunity. It is a celebration of promise, passion, and purpose. It gives a young cricketer access to world-class facilities, high-performance coaching, and transformative education that shapes both the player and the person.
We are honoured to celebrate the journeys of both Gerald and Jesse, two remarkable sportsmen connected by legacy, brotherhood, and the enduring spirit of St Alban’s College.
