REST IN PEACE, MR LODGE!

Today, the St Alban’s College community mourns the loss of a friend and colleague who made a significant impact in the life of the school and the boys in his care.

Rob Lodge was the very essence of a school master. He was a teacher who understood that learning was far more than the transfer of knowledge in the classroom. Rob was a force of nature and influenced boys over many decades in the water polo pool, in the classroom and in the adventure of outdoor education.

Rob expected the best from you and always gave of his best. He was a real character with a wonderful sense of humour and his smile lit up a room. Boys were drawn to him, and his legacy will live on in those he taught, influenced and mentored.

Rob was diagnosed with a brain tumour 20 years ago, but he faced this challenge with optimism, love and the energy we have always known him for. Rob was determined that this would not get the better of him and lived life and was an example of living in the moment.

In honour of his remarkable life, I have asked our fifth Headmaster, and current Headmaster of St Andrew’s College, to write a tribute on behalf of the Albanian community. Tom will also be delivering the eulogy at Rob’s memorial service, which will be held on the 22nd of January at 10h00, in the St Alban’s Chapel.

We hold Rob’s beloved wife, Sandy, his children, Wesley (Class of 2007), Jesse (Class of 2009) and Savannah (St Mary’s DSG Class of 2011) and the entire Lodge family in our thoughts and prayers.

May his soul rest in peace and rise in glory.
MR SHANE KIDWELL – 6TH HEADMASTER
